In November I gave a lecture to the art students of Sonoma State University about my work and career.
You can watch the full presentation HERE through an upload video on Youtube.
Jennifer Shada is pleased to announce Places and Spaces: Inspiration from Home and Abroad, on view at Avinage Wine Shop in downtown Petaluma on Saturday, December 7th. This exhibition showcases the artist's travels to Spain, Portugal, and Morocco earlier this year, finding deep inspiration in the vibrant colors, rich textures, and intricate patterns, all enhancing her already established interest in textiles and hand crafted objects.
In tandem with this exhibition, Jennifer Reichardt and Sara Morgenstern, the makers of Little Trouble Wine, will be pouring their latest harvest and bottles will be available for purchase. The two of these ladies created Little Trouble Wine Co. in 2020 and I had the honor of painting their wine label! Please join us all in an afternoon of art, wine and 30 years of friendship!
Opening Reception: Saturday, December 7th, 3-6pm

The Starry Night Artist In Residence program is nestled in the historic hot springs district of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Located in southern New Mexico, the primary goal of the program is to support self-directed creatives and researchers in the production of new work while offering an environment that promotes self-reflection and experimentation. We believe that the quiet, rustic environment of southern New Mexico is the perfect place for such endeavors.
I have been accepted and allotted a 30 day period with the time and space to focus on my work. From October 1st - October 30th I will live and work on the property and in the studio space while experiencing new communities and inspiration from my surroundings.

For the second iteration of the college’s biennial series of alumni exhibitions programming, CCA Exhibitions and the CCA Alumni Association will partner to highlight the idea of process within the practices of recent alumni from across the college’s four divisions: Fine Arts, Design, Architecture, and Humanities and Sciences. The exhibition will explore shared threads in artistic practices of sketching, note taking, modeling, mapping, drafting, and rendering. These process-based methods expose the pathways creative individuals depend upon to obtain a final product or idea. By celebrating this amorphousness through the form of an exhibition, Alma Mater: Methods will move beyond what is often exhibited within the white cube—finality, succinct expression, monetary value—and will instead prioritize a thinking-through-making approach that is shared among the college’s creative communities and disciplines. It is here where conversations begin, new connections form, and low stakes are valued.
This exhibition is co-curated by Beth Abrahamson (MFA Design 2015), Sarah Hobstetter (MArch 2010), Mik Gaspay (MFA 2011), and Tanya Gayer (MA Curatorial Practice, Visual and Critical Studies 2016).

My painting, "Bufanda de Seda" will be apart of the exhibition titled The World of Frida at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek.
In March I visited La Casa Azul Museo Frida Kahlo in Mexico City. Photographs, paintings, tapestries and furniture all remain as if Frida touched them last. I was drawn to her clothing as it was such an expression of who she was, and narrowed in on a particular portrait of Frida adorned with a red rebozo. My painting is a representation of that portrait as well as capturing that moment in time.

For the first time ever, the founders of ONE+ONE+TWO Artist Collective will have work exhibited and performed at the Spare Change Artist Space in the Financial District of San Francisco, opening May 31st, 6-9pm.
"The Bay Area is hemorrhaging artists. With skyrocketing housing and studio rent, exorbitant costs of living, and limited opportunities to earn the 6-figure income needed to “live comfortably,” there’s no question as to why. But some have seen opportunity through hardship. ONE+ONE+TWO, a San Francisco-based artist collective, has focused on creatively mobilizing alternate forms of currency to allow artists in the Bay Area to thrive. Through pooling resources, creative problem solving, and simple acts of generosity, these four recent graduates of CCA’s MFA program in Studio Practice have successfully connected more than 100 artists from the Bay Area and beyond with the resources they need: workspace, exhibition opportunities, and dynamic conversations around newly created visual artwork. Since January 2017, the collective has hosted public programming in their collaborative studio space in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. The current exhibition at Spare Change Artist Space features meditations on the meaning of currency from the founders of ONE+ONE+TWO."
Out Now! My work has been included in The Watercolor Ideas Book by Joanna Goss alongside so many other wonderful watercolorists! It is such an honor to be part of this beautiful little book! You can buy your copy now at Target, Barnes&Noble or on Amazon!
"This little book is full of big ideas to inspire you to think outside your humble box of watercolors. With a new idea on every spread of the book, you will discover textures, applications, techniques, combinations of materials, and new ways of tackling the subjects you love."
